December 2018

2 Corinthians 10:5 - "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of GOD, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

The Disciple's Victory was designed to help me to achieve victory in spiritual warfare. It focused on the outer victory as I learned how to advance against the enemy in spiritual warfare. This study also introduce me to the Spiritual Armor. I learned the defensive weapons of the Spiritual Armor, which protect me, and the offensive weapons, which lead me to advance against the world, the flesh, and the devil.

for Book 3

Spiritual Armor Prayer.

Heavenly Father,

Your warrior prepares for battle

Today I claim victory over Satan by

putting on the whole armor of GOD!

May I keep my mind focused on You

so Satan will not have a stronghold

on my thoughts.

May it guard my heart from evil

so I will remain pure and holy,

protected under the blood of Jesus Christ.

I put on the BELT OF TRUTH!

May I stand firm in the truth of Your Word

so I will not be a victim of Satan’s lies.

I put on the GOSPEL SHOES!

May I stand firm in the Good News of the

Gospel so your peace will shine through

me and be a light to all I encounter.

May I be ready for Satan’s firey darts

of doubt, denial, and deceit so I will not be

vulnerable to spiritual defeat.

May the two-edged sword of Your Word

be ready in my hands so I can expose the

tempting words of Satan.

By faith your warrior has put on

the whole armor of GOD!

I’m so thankful that I am Your child.

I am prepared to live this day

In spiritual victory!

In Jesus mighty name.

The hard hat covers the head. This is where we have our thoughts. We need something that will protect us from wrong and unpleasant thoughts. We should keep remembering that God has saved us. Then we can enjoy good and pleasant thoughts (Philippians 4:8)

Ephesians 6:17 - "Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Ephesians 6: 14 - "Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,"

It is God’s righteousness. God himself puts it on us (Romans 3:21-22). This is our justification. It makes us right with God.

It is as if we had never sinned. It is goodness on the inside of us. A soldier wears the breastplate at the front of the body.

It will not be of much use if there is a hole in it. The purpose of all the armor is to stop the enemy from hurting you.

The belt will hold all the pieces together. ‘Truth’ can be everything that God has told us about himself and Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, ‘then you will know the truth and the truth will make you free’ (John 8:32). The Bible speaks about ‘truth in the inner parts’ (Psalm 51:6).

If we are not right inside, we will not feel right. We will have no inner peace. So, we must make the belt of truth firm round us.

That is the word of God. The sword is the only piece of armor that they used for attack. The other pieces are for protection. In the Bible, words are often like a sword (Psalm 57:4). The word of God is itself is like a ‘sword’ (Hebrews 4:12). The Bible is like a sword. We must hold it in a strong hand.

Ephesians 6:17 - "Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

The shield is ‘faith’, which is trust in God. The evil plans of the enemy: They could be angry words. They could be doubt. They could be fear, or they could be love of ourselves. They could be lies. The enemy puts these into our minds.

The enemy will try to use all these ‘arrows’ to destroy our faith. God himself is a shield to those who take shelter in him.

Ephesians 6:16 - "In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one."

We should put on the gospel of peace like shoes. They must fit well and they must be ‘ready to use’.

It could be about speaking the gospel to other people. This is the good news about the peace of God. We should always be ready to tell this to other people.

Be ready when they ask you. Be ready to give the reason for the hope that you have (1 Peter 3:15).

Ephesians 6:15 - "and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace."
